About Sonja

Professional Bio

With over five decades of life experience behind me, I bring a rich and varied perspective to my work as a counselor. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an environmental specialty and spent time working in the oil industry. When my growing family called, I stepped away from that career to stay home full-time with my children — a season that taught me profound lessons about resilience, relationships, and the quiet strength required in everyday life.

In 2023, I felt a deep calling to return to school and pursue a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling at Divine Mercy University. I completed my internship, graduated in 2025, and am now excited to open my private practice. This second chapter feels less like a career change and more like a true vocation — one that allows me to walk alongside others during their most challenging times with compassion, presence, and hope.

My approach is grounded in empathy and respect for each person’s unique story. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. Whether you are navigating life transitions, family dynamics, anxiety, grief, or simply seeking greater peace and clarity, I am here to support your healing and growth.

About Me

In my personal life, I have been happily married for 36 years to my wonderful husband. Together we are raising eight children, now ranging in age from 13 to 34. Our family continues to grow beautifully — this year we are blessed to welcome a fourth grandchild and a daughter-in-law, in addition to our eight children, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren already in our lives. Watching our family expand and thrive brings me immense joy.

I am deeply passionate about my faith and my relationship with the Lord, which serves as a steady anchor in every season of life. This faith informs the way I see people and the gentle, hopeful approach I bring to counseling.

When I’m not in session, you’ll often find me enjoying the simple pleasures that fill my heart: gardening, crafting, woodworking, and painting with watercolors. I love being outdoors, especially hiking, and I’m an avid board game player who also enjoys curling up with a good book. Above all, I cherish spending unhurried time with my family — laughing together, making memories, and celebrating each new chapter.

I feel truly grateful to now combine my life experience, faith, and clinical training to offer compassionate, heartfelt counseling to individuals and families in the Colleyville and greater DFW area.
